About Our School
Location
St. Joseph's High School, Mathilakam situates in Thrissur District, Kodungallur Thaluk, Mathilakam Panchayath by the side of NH 17, 8kms to the north away from Kodungallur town. 15 kms to the south away from Thriprayar, 10 kms to the west away from Irinjalakuda town and 5 kms to the east away from Arabian Sea.
History
St. Joseph's High School, Mathilakam situates at Mathilakam Grama Panchayath in Kodungallur Thaluk 8 kms to the north away from the ancient harbour town Musiris ( Kodungallur). As the historical back ground of THRIKKANAMATHILAKAM is well associated with Kerala history, Mathilakam in the land of Kerala are by no means least among the places of Kerala for many reasons. For instance, it is from this land, the Tamil Pandit ELENKOADIKAL emerged with his great Literary work " CHILAPPATHIKARAM" which regards as an epic in Tamil.
In 1904, a primary school, namely "R.C. School" had been started by St. Joseph's Latin Church, Mathilakam. The teachers were Brahmin pandits from Kozhikode. The number of students were 41 during that period. In 1912, the school was upgraded as a elementary School. Again, in 1964, by the munificent and devoted efforts of Shri. K.T. Achuthan (Transport Minister of kerala), Fr. Blaze Almeda (Manager) and several well wishers resulted in the second time upgrade of the School as a High School.
St. Joseph's High School today spread over in 3.5 acres with 61 divisions and more than 2800 students in LP, UP and HS Sections. A KG section is also functioning here.
